The Pianist

oh yeah, I saw this, it is stunning, as you say, and he very believable. (You know he practically starved himself for that role?)
It was very good...I am glad you saw it. I fell in love with Adrien in it too.
The problem I had with this movie - it tried to make it heroic to be just try to survive. He never did anything besides slink away whenever he could. A very well done film. to be sure, I'm just not sure the story was all that great.

Yeah, I get your point. Although in a sense, even surviving that period was an achievement, especially under Szpilman's circumstances. Maybe not heroic, no. A combination of luck and good sense made it possible for him to see the other side of the war. But I do think the story of his survival, per se, is quite astonishing.
i loved this film too. it was good as an epic film, though it could have done with more depth. it was in some sense very cliched, but surviving those brutal times and then me calling it cliched is injustice. still, a marvellous film indeed.
[this is good]
Thank you for this review. I've never seen The Pianist, but now I'm interested. Your review was clean, crisp, and concise. Just the way I like 'em!
